Fillmore
Street is a colourful shopping district with lots of
independently owned boutiques, small art stores, galleries
and vintage clothing, cosmetics and jewelry - you name
it. Fillmore Street is not an area with many large stores,
outlets or mall-like shopping, but, more like Haight
Street, an area with a lot of small stores, bars and
restaurants for individual shopping. San Francisco has
a strong tradition of independently
owned stores and eateries
as opposed to major chain corporations making up the
scene, and Fillmore Street is one of those areas in
the city where this tradition is very much alive, so
much in fact you'll have trouble even locating one of
America's favourite burger barns around here. If that
doesn't bother you, you should definitely check it out.
Fillmore Street is great especially if you're looking
for designer wear by local designers, handcrafted jewelry
and art.
