Katherine Hepburne, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, the
Beatles, Spencer Tracy, Jane Fonda, Doris Day - this
hotel has been a home to them all. The Beverly Hills
Hotel, nicknamed "Pink Palace", with its remarkable
Spanish belltower is a Los Angeles institution with
a long history and connection to the history of Hollywood
itself. A decadent and typically Hollywood location
where the tennis balls are pink, guests' dogs are addressed
by their name and the hotel staff remembers your preferred
TV position. In a hotel like that, it seems almost normal
that a Wimbledon champion gives private tennis lessons
for the guests. Discretion always comes first at the
Beverly Hills Hotel, and unfortunately, that meant no
360° pictures for us as well, but for a hotel with
such high profile guests we will make our first exception
and present the Beverly Hills Hotel without them. The
Beverly Hills Hotel features 203 rooms, suites and romantic
bungalows, all equipped with state-of-the-art amenities
and comfort. All rooms offer at least three telephones,
fax and data ports, two televisions, vcr and stereo
system, about a third of the rooms feature an additional
balcony, terrace, fireplace or patio. The 21 legendary
bungalows in the 21 hectare garden area of the Beverly
Hills Hotel are especially popular with the guests -
Liz Taylor, for instance, honeymooned here with six
of her eight husbands. The Polo Lounge is one of the
most exclusive gathering points for the high society
- this is where million dollar deals are made over a
Martini, contracts are signed and careers are made in
an ambience that is so luxurious and elegant just being
there feels like you made it. The pool area of the Beverly
Hills Hotel is beautiful, lined with palm trees and
very relaxing - and still one of the places in
Los Angeles for seeing stars. The $ 100 million investment
for the renovation paid off: the Beverly Hills Hotel
is back to full splendor, the old clientele still loves
it and it has also managed to draw in new guests. The
hotel is located in the heart of Beverly Hills, only
a stone's throw from Rodeo Drive and many Los Angeles
hotspots. An experience for all travellers looking for
the extraordinary, or, to quote the brochure: "An
experience better than reality!"
