After
a long renovation phase, the famous
Cafe
Keese
is now open to the public again. With a successful
redesign, the
Cafe
now looks like a combination of 20s and 70s elements
- an illuminated
dancefloor
and classical red wood furniture,
sort of like the
Saturday Night Fever
whiskey lounge. Red felt, mirrorballs and oil paintings
create an atmosphere that helps to imagine why the Keese
has become such a legend. During the day, the Cafe Keese
is the place you'd go for a coffee - at night, dancing
is on the program. The clientele here is above 30 and
older, a
fact that doesn't lessen the fun. There's a discreet
lounge with separate
bar
in the basement. A recommendation - due to the location
on Reeperbahn, you're probably going to walk past the
Cafe Keese anyway, so don't miss it!
For all those who are looking for a cheap place to stay in the middle of the Reeperbahn nightlife action, Cafe Keese offers six rooms starting at 39 Euros - a pretty good deal for this location - you never have far to walk home and there's no need to negotiate fares with cab drivers or take the, howver good, public transportation.
