The
castle
Cecilienhof
in Potsdam is the last castle built by the Hohenzollern
during world war I. Crown prince Wilhelm and his wife
Cecilie were to live here, which they couldn't anymore
after Germany became a republic and the emperor emigrated
to
Holland. It's a picturesque little castle around an
inner yard with fountain and garden and nowadays
hosts
both a museum and a hotel and restaurant. The castle
was the place of the Potsdam conference where the allieds
decided what to do with Germany after WW II - the pictures
of Churchill, Stalin and
Truman
sitting on the bench in the yard of the castle went
around the world. Castle Cecilienhof is located by a
small lake in a picturesque and tranquil landscape without
much traffic or noise. The castle Cecilienhof is an
interesting and beautiful hideaway just outside of Berlin.
